Truman Gala 2025!

We are thrilled to announce this year's keynote Speaker for the 38th Annual Jackson County Democrats Truman Gala on September 6th will be Senator Amy Klobuchar! 

Senator Klobuchar has been a constant champion for the working class, including her work passing legislation to lower prescription drug costs that saved seniors $1.5 billion in one year alone. As Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, she fights for our farmers and rural communities, and since the start of this current administration she has worked hard to defend our freedoms and the fundamental values at the core of our Constitution.

We are facing unprecedented challenges and attacks from Republicans in Washington DC and Jefferson City leaving it more important than ever that we finally end the Republican Supermajority and improve voter turnout in Kansas City. The news that Donald Trump has sent marching orders to Missouri Republicans to carve up the 5th Congressional District falls right in line with the disrespect for the will of the voters we have seen from Republicans in our state. Just this year they voted to overturn our vote, taking away the paid sick leave and minimum wage increase we just voted for, and working to once again ban abortion in Missouri. 

This year's Truman Gala will focus on capturing the energy of the moment and setting us up for success in 2025 and beyond. This is a year for organizing and building. In Jackson County we have targeted seats to flip including State House, State Senate, and County Legislator seats. The money we raise through the Truman Gala is crucial to make all of this possible, and we need your help. Join us on September 6th at Stoney Creek Hotel in Independence where we will welcome Senator Klobuchar, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, and more as we prepare for the fight ahead!
