Internships

POST HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY! 

 

Eastern Jackson County Democrats are looking for six to ten high school graduates for a ten week, 20 hour a week summer internship opportunity.

 

Interns Will: 

 

  • Complete a weekly campaign training program (2 hours per week).

  • Work side by side with an appointed candidate learning valuable skills in real time (8 hours per week).

  • Assist in managing the Eastern Jackson County Democratic Office (10 hours per week.

  • Hone valuable campaign skills- fundraising, social media management, messaging, recruiting and training volunteers, field work, and much more.

  • Build a local professional political network.

  • Attend the Truman Gala to meet Democratic Leaders.

  • Enjoy working with peers for a common cause in a monumental year for both Missouri and National Politics.

  • Interns can work through their university, if applicable, to apply for college credit for this program. 

  • While there will be regular hours for each intern, the 20 hour work week will be as flexible as possible to accommodate your schedule. 

  • It is expected that interns may need a week off over the course of the 10 weeks. This will not impact your job or your school credit, if applicable. 

  • Interns who are willing and able will be invited to continue through the election.

 

Mandatory Qualifications:

 

  • 18 years of age

  • Registered Voter

  • Driver’s License/Independent Transportation Around the County

  • Eagerness to Learn

  • Excellent Communication Skills 

  • Respectful and Accepting Attitude for Voters, Colleagues, and all people

  • 2 to 3 References from school and/or work and/or volunteer positions.

 

Optional Qualifications:

 

  • Living in Eastern Jackson County/Missouri

  • Enrolled in College Program

  • Prior Campaign Experience

  2. References will be checked and phone interviews scheduled upon receipt of application. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible.

  3. Upon completion of reference check, interviews, and a deliberation process, all candidates will be notified of their acceptance by 5-24-26.

  4. Work will begin on June 1. Upon acceptance of the position, Tyler McCall and his assistant will work with you to build your schedule.
